  • Glenn Martin

    Founding Director and Inventor of Martin Jetpack

    In 1981 Glenn developed the concept of the Martin Jetpack. A research and development program spanning almost 30 years has successfully proven the original engineering concept with the achievement of successful personal flight. He has held sales and marketing positions in the Pharmaceutical Industry and has a proven record of commercialisation of original products in the Biotechnology Industry. Glenn continues to oversee the technical development of the Martin Jetpack and has built up an impressive team of avionic, technical, design and production experts.

     
  • Richard Lauder

    Chief Executive and Director

    Richard Lauder is a long term investor in the Martin Aircraft Company, and joined the board of directors in 2004. He was appointed Chief Executive in 2008. His experience as a business leader includes recent roles as Executive Chairman of Excell Corporation and as Managing Director of City Care – both large infrastructure contracting companies. Prior to that Richard led an organisation that successfully researched, developed and commercialised a number of new product technologies for the civil construction industry. With degrees in engineering, management and philosophy, Richard is a member of the Institute of Directors, and has sat on the boards of a number of industry organisations. Richard’s commercial experience, particularly in technology development and business growth, is a strong asset for Martin Aircraft Company Ltd.

     
  • Phil Norman

    Chairman

    Phil Norman has been appointed by the board to take up the Chairman’s role at Martin Aircraft Company. Phil currently also Chairs listed software developer Xero, has over 30 years experience in the ICT sector and considerable venture capital and investment banking experience.

    Mr Norman brings considerable corporate governance experience and a strong track record working with emerging companies to develop their businesses internationally.

    Mr Norman has founded, developed and successfully sold several software companies, and was instrumental in bringing Microsoft to New Zealand in the 1970s. He has held senior positions at Microsoft New Zealand, Paxus Corporation and Telecom, where he helped develop and roll-out Telecom's Internet site, Xtra.

     
  • Steve Bayliss

    Director

    Steve joined the board of the company in January 2011 and brings strong marketing expertise. He was recently General Manager Marketing for Air New Zealand. During his 6 year tenure the airline went from the aftermath of a near bankruptcy to the Best Airline in the World - as judged by Air Transport World. Air New Zealand also became the most awarded marketing group in New Zealand. Steve previously held senior positions with international brewer Lion Nathan and with Coca Cola. Steve now runs his own consultancy business Branded Culture.

     
  • Dennis Chapman

    Director

    Founder and key technical person behind the development of Christchurch’s Switchtec Power Systems Ltd, which he started in 1985 and sold in 1998 as a $100 million company employing over 400 staff. Prior to Switchtec, Dennis was head of Mobile Radio Research at Tait Electronics Limited. Dennis is a member of the Advisory Board of No 8 Ventures and a director of Industrial Research Limited and Vega Industries Ltd.

     
  • Jenny Morel

    Director

    Jenny is Executive Director of No. 8 Ventures founded in 1999. Previously she started Morel & Co Ltd as the only investment bank in New Zealand specialising in technology companies. She has a long career background in investment banking and company directorships in both UK and New Zealand.

     
  • David Hunter

    During his 37 years commercial experience, David has held a number of key management roles and directorships. He was previously the Chief Operating Officer for BearingPoint Inc. (formerly KPMG Consulting), a $5 billion annual revenue company, and the Chief Executive Officer of Accenture Limited, a $3 billion annual revenue company.

    Since 2000, he has held directorships with both listed (Staging Connections Group Limited) and unlisted companies (Australian Government Solicitor, Murray Irrigation Limited, Forest and Wood Products Corporation, and IWM Centre Management Limited).

    David is currently a member of the Audit and Risk Committee of the NSW Government Office of State Revenue, Chairman of Tugeto Pty Ltd (a family investment Company), and Chairman of the Momentum Mortgage Limited Investor Committee.

    David Hunter has recently invested in Martin Aircraft Company.
